Ever since I can remember my Grandfather used to take my family on a vacation to the beach. Every year we’d go down to the coast to Galveston or South Padre Island. Obviously not the best beaches, but all I have are good memories from every vacation. Many years later we still take a yearly vacation to the beach with the whole family! I’m really hoping my children continue the tradition when they’re adults.
This year we traveled to Pensacola Beach. The sand was white and the water was clear. Probably as white and clear as I’ve seen them in the US. We had a beach house right on the beach with a ramp on the side of the house entering the beach. It’s the best thing to wake up with the beach right in front of your patio! The beach house had a roof top balcony where we’d have our coffee in the morning and relax in the evening with the stars in full view. Hunting jellyfish and seashells is always a must.
It would not be a party without getting stuck in an elevator or getting stung by some jelly fish! Which of course both happened to some of my family! We are a big bunch and are still missing two uncles and an aunt!
Other than waking up to the sight of the beach, my favorite scenery are the sunsets. I applied no filter to this, it just looks like this. Every. Single. Evening! Somehow it makes me thankful for all of the beauty that I really only get to see when I’m at the beach.
Casino Beach Bar and Grille, Pensacola Beach
We ventured out a few times in Pensacola. We souvenir shopped and hung out at the Pensacola Pier on Casino Beach. We picked up a few frozen drinks at Casino Beach Bar and Grille and walked the 1400 foot pier with the kids. We got to see a huge turtle swimming out underneath the end of the pier!
We spent one afternoon at Fort Pickens. It was a brick fort built in the 1800’s during the Civil War. It was pretty neat to see a piece of history like that. I mean it’s not all in one piece, and it’s not all fancy and kept up. It’s almost like you can see it’s demise and make up stories in your head about what all went on during that time. One of my favorite parts of the fort were the concrete gun batteries placed throughout the fort and area surrounding it.
My Parents. That I kind of made fun of for dressing like twinkies!
I love our family trips! And I already can’t wait until next year!
