Friday. Day 1.
ACL was a total blast! It came and went in a flash! My daughter and I drove down on Friday and got there in time to see Flosstradamus, a bit of Disclosure and ended our night with Foo Fighters. Here’s a little snippet of Flosstradamus:
Saturday. Day 2.
The next morning we ate at the famous Juan in a Million where we were greeted by Don Juan himself. We ordered a meal for each of us and had heard of the “Don Juan” taco, so we thought what the heck we’ll share it along with our meal. I swear we could have just shared that one taco! The food was delicious and so filling.
I thought it would be a good time to visit the State Capitol since we were already in Austin and Luci had not been before.
I let Luci be my muse for this new fringe vest I got at E Leighs, a boutique in Southlake Town Square. It’s so light and such a perfect statement piece!
She paired it with a felt floppy hat and added a head chain to it. I thought the whole ensemble looked great put together. Perfect for a 14 year old girl at ACL.
Ok so back to ACL, we got there in time to see this local band, El Tule. If you like shaking your booty and dancing salsa and cumbia’s you should definitely check this band out! I had never heard of them and we kind of accidentally ended up right in front of where they were playing so we stayed to watch. If you’re in Austin for Weekend 2, stop by to see them!
Another guy I had never heard of was G-Eazy. He’s a hip-hop artist from California who’s released a bunch of Mixtapes. The clip below is from Sunday, when he came out to perform with another artist, Kehlani. They collaborated on a song “Get Away” that I now have on repeat! You can check out the song on soundcloud through the link below.
Get Away Remix, G-Eazy ft Kehlani
After A$AP we waited around for Drake. To be completely honest he’s always singing some crybaby crap that I hardly pay any attention to him. I wasn’t that excited to see him, but after actually seeing him live, I guess I’m kinda a fan! Here are a few snippets:

Sunday. Day 3.
We started our day at Magnolia Cafe where they seriously have the best pancakes in Austin! They have a full menu, including brunch and the best mimosas!
One of my new favorite artists that I found at the festival was a young r&b artist named Kehlani. It really surprised me that this 20 year old kid has such vocal talent. She just signed with Atlantic Records this year and I’m hoping she does so good in the music industry! I’m always rooting for the underdog or people who overcome their troubled past.
Next up were some dudes named Alt-J. I seriously thought this was a rapper guy! My daughter laughed at me for about ten minutes after I told her I thought they were rappers. The band was actually pretty cool and I probably would have enjoyed them a bit more had I known at least one of their songs!
Last one up was The Weeknd. I was so excited to see him and boy, I wasn’t disappointed.
The Weeknd, ACL 10.4.15 (Crew Love)
The Weeknd, ACL 10.4.15 (Drunk in Love)
The Weeknd, ACL 10.4.15 (Wicked Games)
The Weeknd, ACL 10.4.15 (The Hills)
He sang a mix of his old stuff and new stuff. The funny part was, was that you hardly saw anyone singing the older, mixtape songs. What really got the crowd going was when he sang “Can’t feel my Face,” “Earned It” and “The Hills.” Now The Hills is cool, but I wanted to call those freakin nerds freakin nerds for knowing the words to “Can’t feel my face” instead of “Drunk in Love!” I think that’s when I fell in love with the Weeknd, when I first heard Drunk in Love. One of my favorite things I’ve heard by the Weeknd is this outtake I randomly found on Soundcloud. Maybe that’s when I fell more in love with his voice!
The Weeknd, Backstage Warmups (Belong to the World/The Town)
So there you go. My little weekend getaway summed up in about a thousand words, a few videos and pictures. I’m already sad that it’s over and I can’t wait to go back, whenever that may be. I love live music and I love listening to new artists!
Until next time you guys! Cheers!
I love the picture above, it pretty much sums up our weekend.
